Drama on Belvoir Street – and not in the Belvoir Theatre…

And I didn’t hear a thing. Can’t help being a bit intrigued though.

Police are hunting a tattooed 81-year-old man after a young man was shot in a central Sydney unit.

Officers were called to a unit in Belvoir Street, Surry Hills, at around 7.15pm (AEDT) on Friday night where they found a 26-year-old man suffering from a gun shot wound to his lower abdomen.

The man was taken by ambulance to St Vincents Hospital were he underwent surgery and remains in a serious but stable condition, police said.

Investigations into the shooting are continuing, with police wishing to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries.

The man is described as being 81-years-old, of white/European appearance, approximately 160-170cm tall and of a large build.

He has tattoos of a sailing ship and two clasped hands on one forearm and a tattoo of a heart and dagger on the other forearm.

Police believe that the man may be armed with a handgun and members of the public are urged not to approach him.

Anyone who may have information about the shooting or the whereabouts of the man are urged to contact Triple O or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Not me, no tattoos here, and I am not quite 81 yet. Sounds like they have a fair idea who they are looking for. Can’t be the Duke of Edinburgh either. He’s a bit older than that, though he was a sailor…
