Rationalising resources

04 Jan

In the previous entry I wrote, with a degree at least of seriousness, “Hmmm… Been blogging for way too long…” Consequently I have mothballed Ninglun’s Specials and English/ESL. For details see Mothballed and Mothballed but not closed.

(A couple of weeks later I moderated this decision.)

I could understand Specials. You kind of wiped that out with the photo blog. I was surprised with English/ESL because this occupies a very special niche.

The Specials were too much trouble. However, they still stand and the family history material will still be kept up to date. On the photoblog the emphasis is on the photos themselves. People can still look at thematic sequences by using the category tags in the side bar.

On English/ESL: I will be adding pages rather than posts. That’s a peculiarity of WordPress which enables something a bit more systematic, and not tied to the diary or blog form. On the sticky post I will announce whenever a new page goes up. You may have noticed posts were infrequent last year — none in December, 3 in November, and 4 in October — but site usage doubled! Around 50% of the all-time top stats on English/ESL are to the pages anyway.
